Strand Leader – Marie Bryant

We recognised the success of our fabulous Learning Mentors with a Celebration Event at the end of the summer term. Over 25 Learning Mentors received awards after receiving nominations from parents/carers, Young People and school staff. The event was a great success and was well attended by mentors, young people, parents, staff, local authority representatives and Vice Chair of the Council Liz Wells.

The new school year has started with many new Learning Mentors being appointed in North Somerset schools. Excellence Cluster mentors have once again been proactive in supporting these mentors, offering opportunities to shadow their work, share resources and answer any questions about the role. I have been delivering the six day induction training to many of these mentors. Jayne Goodwin co-facilitated the training for the Learning Mentor role specific module, many thanks to Jayne.

As I move on to new challenges I would like to take this opportunity to thank the mentors and their line managers for their great support over the last two years. Many thanks also to the fantastic Excellence Cluster team.

Marie has been successful in gaining promotion and her Excellence Cluster contract ends on 7th November. We wish her every success in the future and know that her going takes away much of the knowledge and ability to support Learning Mentors in the Cluster. We are delighted to welcome Abbie Allender as Learning Mentor Co-ordinator for this year. She will be working on Thursdays and Fridays.
