Proactive Leadership Imperative

The Partnership is underpinned by high quality proactive leadership that supports the implementation of strategic imperatives in the following ways:

1. Securing a shared understanding of our vision and values:

  • Promoting WEP aims and strategies

  • Improving liaison and communication

  • Nurturing a 'can do' culture

  • Raising aspirations, expectations and celebrating success

  • Re-enforcing home - school partnerships.

2. Being accountable for school improvement, attainment and achievement across the Federation:

  • Initiating and leading strategic imperatives

  • Implementing a robust quality framework that supports and promotes reflective practice and self evaluation

  • Participating in the quality review process

  • Delegating plans and targets to accountable managers, strand and task groups

  • Monitoring progress against milestones and targets

  • Agreeing and implementing enabling strategies to deliver targeted improvements in attainment and achievement

  • Facilitating changes to the school environment and infrastructure as a pre-requisite for achieving strategic goals

  • Initiating a viable 14-19 strategy

3. Leadership shares a common understanding of inclusion that underpins the work of the Federation:

  • Agreeing an Inclusion statement for Federation.

  • Monitoring the curriculum and its delivery against the principles of Personalised Learning.

  • Increasing opportunities for students to participate in school planning and development activities.

  • Reviewing and revising arrangements for support and guidance so that it more effectively supports the individual.

4. Recruiting and retaining high quality staff:

  • Implementing a proactive recruitment strategy

  • Supporting and developing supply and fixed term cover staff

  • Promoting a culture of dispersed leadership where it is everyone's responsibility to generate solutions

  • Offering opportunities for cross-school leadership e.g. Strand and Task Groups

  • Making available a range of professional learning opportunities including research and the chance to lead Federation initiatives

  • Producing career pathways that support the professional development of staff

5. Applying best value principles:

  • Exploring the potential for joint service agreements in order to secure savings, improve services and ensure the financial sustainability of the Federation
